View from Kadish Park
oil on wood, 10″ x 10″, 2017
This is the first painting in a series I’m working on inspired by the paintings of Milwaukee artist, Gerrit V. Sinclair, an early to mid-twentieth century painter whose work was inspired by his community and surroundings. I am visiting the same locations that he painted and painting them as they are now in an effort to document the changing urban landscape. Since completing this painting, the building in between and behind (on E. Land Place) the Red Lion Pub and 1888 N. Water St. has been torn down probably for more condos or apartments. One of my friends is biking along the switchback path.
