Gingham Blouse

Gingham Blouse

oil on wood, 9” x 12”, 2024

Like many young girls, my sister and I (me to a lesser extent) were crazy about horses. We grew up near Baton Rouge, Louisiana in an area that was developing but still somewhat rural. This is a painting from a slide taken by my dad of my sister with her horse that she managed to talk my father into getting for her. In this picture, she’s wearing a gingham blouse that was sewn by my mother who made a lot of our clothes.
